Stephen, Shannon and Tim transitioned into a beautiful fully renovated home in late December 2018, having developed a friendship over a number of years. The gentleman transitioned to a low-care Supported Independent Living model in the Cessnock area. They have always wanted to live together as mates and have flourished since the move and are enjoying being able to have a place to call their own, experience all the joys of running a house together and celebrating their independence.
To reach this aspiration Finding Yellow supported to build confidence, capacity and independence our team worked closely with Tim in his home to increase his capacity with daily living skills whilst Stephen and Shannon worked on their daily living skills over a number of years in preparation for the big transition.
The house has been fully renovated with a new kitchen, bathroom, wardrobes, outdoor area, carpets, blinds, painting, lighting, appliances, and laundry and is fully accessible. The house is fully maintained by the gentleman and our team support with attendance daily to prompt and encourage participation.
All families have been extremely supportive and have played a key role in the transition to new accommodation being a success through their support and encouragement. To celebrate this significant milestone Stephen, Shannon and Tim celebrated with a recent house warming party in which all of their closest family and friends enjoyed delicious food hampers kindly donated by the team at Westpac Cessnock and all rocked to the tunes of Blue Water Cowboys.
