Hutton Street Vegetable Garden

At one of our supported independent living environments we have established grounds with very productive vegetable gardens and fruit trees.  The tireless efforts of our volunteer Taffy helps keep the gardens mainatained, well watered and plant seasonal produce for the next season. Our gardens are frequented by birds, bees and lovely blue tongue lizards keeping all the spiders and insects at bay.

Vicki, Lisa and Tony are very happy picking seasonal vegetables and fruit along with collecting fresh eggs from our chickens. This year our garden has produced a huge selection of zucchini’s, cucumbers, many varieties of tomatoes, and even some chocolate capsicums and as well as mandarins. Tony picked the last of our spinach from the garden and making some very tasty spinach and ricotta rolls for lunches.
